Synopsis

2073 is a 2024 hybrid sci-fi documentary directed by Asif Kapadia that serves as a dystopian warning about the future of humanity. It blends futuristic, fictional scenes of a ruined world with real-world archival footage to explore how unchecked climate change, authoritarianism, AI, and surveillance could lead to global societal collapse.

Here is a more polished and professional version while keeping the meaning intact:

LOC collaborated with the production over a period of more than three years, supporting the project from its earliest stages through to final delivery.

The work spanned a wide range of visual effects techniques. During the early stages of production, the team created previs sequences using Unreal Engine and set up a green screen shoot at the LOC studio to generate placeholder material for the editorial process.

Midway through the project, LOC developed several virtual environments in Unreal Engine—including a derelict museum, a tunnel, and a shopping mall—which were used for a virtual production shoot.

In the final stages of post-production, the team created multiple CG assets and composited them into both newly shot plates and archival footage.

It was an ambitious and rewarding project to be involved in.
